Pro-life advocacy as this writer remembers it has consisted of little more than:
- praying for an overturn of Roe vs. Wade;
- marching on Washington, D.C. on the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade;
- praying for “activist judges” to step down or pass away so that they be replaced by judges more sympathetic to pro-life views;
- educating people about abortion and euthanasia;
- praying, marching, etc.
While this is good – very good – after 35 years, we have seen the increase of abortion on demand, rise in euthanasia, embryonic stem-cell research, etc., funded by the federal government.
The pro-life movement needs to recognize that such an approach may not be the optimal approach to these issues – especially if the goal is lasting legal recognition of them. A noted doctor is known to have repeated the wise saying, “The more difficult an issue is, the more local the solution ought to be.”
Therefore, let us introduce you to Pro-Life Strategy 2.0.
